What can acids react with and state the products for each reaction.

acid + reactive metal → salt + H2

acid + metal carbonate → salt + CO2 + H2O

acid + alkali → salt + H2O

What can alkalis react with and state the products for each reaction.

alkali + acid → salt + H2O

alkali + ammonium salts → salt + NH3 + H2O

State the difference between a strong & a weak acid.

strong acid ionise/ dissociate fully in water

weak acid ionise/ dissociate partially in water

State the types of oxides and give examples of each.

basic oxides - most metal oxides (e.g. Na2O, MgO)

amphoteric oxides - ZnO, Al2O3, PbO

acidic oxides - most non-metal oxides (e.g. CO2, SO3)

neutral oxides - NO, CO, H2O
